Housing and Employment Navigator - Berryessa

Essential Functions: Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Identifies and places participants of the RV Safe Parking Program into appropriate housing and employment opportunities to help clients increase their income within 60 days of program entry
Develops and maintains accurate and current housing and employment portfolios.
Provides participants with listings of potential housing and employment options in alignment with their needs and geographic preferences
Helps participants mitigate issues with credit reports, utility arrears, criminal records, unfavorable landlord references, and other matters that may impact housing eligibility
Outreaches to the community and posts community resources on Berryessa
Helps promote and makes introductions between WeHOPE and other organizations serving the community
Assists with identifying and recruiting local employees to work at Berryessa RV Safe Parking Program
Distribute fliers throughout the city to inform the community about job opportunities, community meetings, and events
Assists participants with housing and employment applications, including preparing/obtaining any needed documentation and tracking application status
Advocates on behalf of participants to expedite their access to housing
Arranges for timely inspections and landlord corrective actions
Determines rent reasonableness for inspected units before rental assistance and lease approval
Explain and review the lease and sublease agreement with the incoming participant(s)/subtenant
Works with case managers to address any emerging issues related to housing, employment, and community adjustment
Conducts outreach and expands access to housing and employment by cultivating relationships with property owners, management companies, and employers while connecting with landlords and employers via neighborhood outreach, Internet search, and networking events.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Develop expertise in available affordable housing sites and housing subsidies
Position Qualifications
Prefer Undergraduate degree or related experience.
Professional experience in real estate and property management is strongly desired.
Demonstrated ability working with individuals and families from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
Must be computer literate; internet savvy, experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Excellent written and oral communication skills; comfortable presenting in front of groups
Strong organizational, detail-oriented, and time-management skills.
Proven ability to work independently and effectively as part of a collaborative team.
Display a high level of initiative and commitment towards completing duties efficiently
An understanding of ideas and practices that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion and a commitment to ongoing professional development in this area.
Valid California driver’s license and proof of insurance.
