In the news: WeHOPE at Berryessa

Victoria Garibaldi, featured in the CNBC coverage, is the program manager at WeHOPE at Berryessa.

CNBC recently highlighted the growing number of families and individuals living in vehicles across Silicon Valley and the urgent need for solutions that are both compassionate and practical.

In partnership with the City of San Jose, WeHOPE is helping meet this moment through WeHOPE at Berryessa Safe Parking. Berryessa provides a secure place for neighbors to park, along with access to basic needs and consistent, caring support designed to help people stabilize and move toward housing.

This coverage also lifts up a painful reality in our region: “van-lording,” an underground market where people rent RVs without basic protections and can be pressured, displaced, or exploited.

At WeHOPE, we’re clear about what is at the center of this issue: humanity in need. They are our neighbors, doing their best to survive in a housing crisis. Our community needs help, and people need options that prioritize safety, dignity, and a real pathway forward.

We are grateful to the City of San Jose’s leaders and teams for meeting this challenge with urgency and dignity.
