Position Description:
Berryessa RV Safe Parking site is dedicated to providing RV Safe Parking and supportive services to adults
experiencing homelessness in the City of San Jose. Our goal is to problem-solve with our clients and help them
become healthy, employed, and housed using innovative solutions. WeHOPE seeks a professional and
dynamic Program Director to oversee under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer. The Program Director will
be responsible for managing and operating this emergency non-congregate shelter for adults.
The Program Director supervises staff, interns, and volunteers and is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-
quality services that help individuals experiencing homelessness to return to permanent housing.
Primary Duties:
Responsible for the delivery of services in an ethical, professional, and effective manner
Full oversight of staff at two locations, including hiring, training, supervision, and facilitation of monthly staff meetings
Oversee case managers and ensure they are meeting deliverables
Develop appropriate program procedures, policies, and forms and ensure their implementation
Develop and implement an annual program plan in collaboration with staff and the Chief Operating Officer
Monitor the annual program budget to ensure we keep costs within the allocated budget
Supervise the collection, compilation, and submission of all program statistics, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports submission to the senior administrative team, ensuring all reports meet funding and legal requirements
Coordinates with local agencies to provide quarterly onsite popup events to help clients connect with service providers
Coordinates with contractors to include facility management, utility services, RV waste disposal, security, and others as needed to ensure that operations and repairs are effectively managed and kept clean and repairs are made on a timely basis
Coordinate program development in the following areas: job development, follow-up program, donations, food services, volunteers, recreational activities for clients, and other areas as needed
Responsible for hosting monthly events like movie night, game night, community gardening, etc.
Supervise case management staff and, at times, provide direct services to clients
Lead weekly case management/case conferencing with all Berryessa case managers
Ensure development and facilitation of workshops and support groups as needed
Address client appeals and grievances in a timely manner
Attend weekly online companywide case management meetings (Thursdays at 4 pm)
Position Qualifications:
Bachelors in Psychology, Sociology or other humanities field required; Masters in Social Work or related field preferred
Minimum 3 years of non-profit management experience
Experience developing, managing, evaluating and operating programs serving homeless populations
Experience managing multiple locations preferred; ability to travel between locations required
Strong written and oral communication, personnel management, conflict resolution, and clinical supervision skills are necessary
Strong knowledge of substance abuse and relapse prevention, mental health issues, and domestic violence required
A strong foundation in the ideas and practices that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion; and a commitment to ongoing professional development in this area
Multicultural competency strongly encouraged
Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred
