Meet Clyde Virges, WeHOPE’s Lead Outreach Case Manager
Get to know Brother Clyde Virges and all about his role at WeHOPE.
1. Tell me about yourself - what’s your title, and what department do you work in?
I am Clyde Virges, the Lead Outreach Case Manager, and I work in the outreach department at WeHOPE.
2. Can you tell me what your job entails?
My main objective is to provide support for the unhoused community. I assist them in transitioning from homelessness to self-sufficiency through our housing solutions. This often involves helping them move off the streets and into shelters or temporary housing while we pursue permanent housing options. My responsibilities include preparing documents, assisting with obtaining identification and social security cards, completing housing applications, helping with job searches, and seeking housing vouchers. Additionally, I may assist clients in obtaining medical, dental, and mental health services.
3. How did you come to work in your current position?
Before being offered a full-time position with WeHOPE, I worked as an independent contractor, providing counseling and group sessions to shelter residents as a licensed and certified alcohol and substance abuse counselor.
4. If you could tell our community one thing about WeHOPE, what would you want them to know?
We truly live up to our name. The hope in WeHOPE stands for “Helping Other People Excel,” and we do just that!
5. What’s your favorite thing about WeHOPE?
We continue to meet the most tangible needs of “the least of them” in our community by developing programs that address their most essential needs. Additionally, WeHOPE hires from within the community. The team trains and trusts individuals to perform jobs that they may never consider possible before encountering our organization.
6. Please share any other details about your job at WeHOPE that you’d like our community to know.
I appreciate that we offer second and third chances for individuals and that we will work collaboratively with other organizations in the community.
