Shashina Lovelace serves as the Assistant Manager at the WeHOPE Shelter in EPA. We enjoyed learning more about her in an engaging and insightful conversation. Enjoy reading her profile!

  1. Can you tell us what your job entails?

    I maintain the shelter. It’s my job to make sure everything is decent and in order. I manage the staff, oversee their daily duties, and assist Christina Gibson, the Shelter Manager, in ensuring that our team provides adequate care for our residents.

  2. How did you come to work in your current position?

    I try to maintain a growth mindset in how I approach my life and my role at WeHOPE. After being here for some time, I received a promotion, and it’s been a blessing.

  3. If you could tell your community one thing about WeHOPE, what would you want them to know?

    WeHOPE is a great place. As our name states - We Help Other People Excel. We stand by our mission, and it's rewarding to see our team and residents grow and expand their horizons.

  4. What's your favorite thing about WeHOPE?

    More than anything, I enjoy the people I get to work with. When I come to work and there are good vibes, I know it's going to be a great day!

  5. Please share any other details about your job at WeHOPE that you'd like our community to know.

    I love my job so much, and I have a passion for helping others. They say if you love what you do, you'll never work another day in your life, and I can truly say that's how I feel about WeHOPE.

  6. Favorite local restaurant?

    My favorite local restaurant is Benihana, a hibachi-style restaurant.

  7. Favorite quote?

    My favorite quote is "Tough times don't last long, but tough individuals do!" I love this quote because in life you have to be resilient and make up your mind that you’ll succeed no matter what obstacles may lie in your path.

  8. Favorite place to shop?

    My favorite place to shop is the Rainbows clothing store in East Bay.
