WeHOPE at Berryessa Celebrates a Year of Impact

We’re so proud of the Berryessa Team. WeHOPE at Berryessa has officially reached its one-year milestone. Happy first anniversary!

WeHOPE at Berryessa Celebrates their one-year May 19th, 2026

Since opening WeHOPE at Berryessa opened its doors on March 4, 2025, WeHOPE at Berryessa has become a place of hope, opportunity, and transformation for individuals experiencing homelessness. As we celebrate this milestone, we are proud to reflect on the incredible progress made possible through the dedication of our staff, volunteers, community partners, and supporters.

Transforming Lives Through Housing

At the heart of our mission is helping individuals find stable housing and rebuild their lives. Since opening, WeHOPE at Berryessa has successfully placed 61 participants into permanent or temporary housing, providing them with a critical foundation for long-term stability and success. Each housing placement represents a life changed, a new beginning, and a step toward self-sufficiency.

Expanding Access Through Community Partnerships

One of our most impactful collaborations has been with Abrahamic Alliance International and Good Karma Bikes. Together, we organized a bicycle drive that distributed more than 89 bicycles to individuals served across WeHOPE locations in San Jose, East Palo Alto, and San Francisco.

For many participants, access to reliable transportation can be a significant barrier to employment, healthcare, and other essential services. These bicycles have empowered our community members to travel to work, attend medical appointments, and maintain greater independence.

Restoring Confidence and Dignity

Through our partnership with HOPE NUEVO Church, we have provided additional support that goes beyond basic necessities. The church generously donates items from its thrift store, helping clients access clothing and household essentials.

In addition, Chuy the Barber volunteers every other Monday to provide free haircuts to our clients. These services may seem simple, but they play an important role in restoring confidence, dignity, and self-esteem as individuals work toward their personal and professional goals.

Building Pathways to Employment

Economic stability is a critical component of ending homelessness. To support participants in achieving their career goals, WeHOPE at Berryessa has hosted multiple workshops focused on financial literacy and job readiness, in partnership with Goodwill STRIVE.

These workshops have equipped participants with practical skills, increased confidence, and direct connections to employment opportunities. As a result, many individuals have secured jobs, creating new pathways toward financial independence and housing stability.

Strengthening Our Community Through Collaboration

The success of WeHOPE at Berryessa is made possible through the generosity and commitment of our community partners. Organizations, including BAYCC, AGAPE, Living Water Ministry, and the Muslim Sisters, continue to provide consistent food and clothing donations that help meet our participants' daily needs.

These partnerships demonstrate the power of community collaboration and remind us that lasting change happens when we work together.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on the accomplishments of the past year, we are filled with gratitude for everyone who has contributed to this journey. From housing placements and employment opportunities to transportation access and essential services, every success story represents the collective effort of a community committed to uplifting those in need.

While we are proud of what has been achieved, we know there is still much work to be done. We remain dedicated to expanding our impact, strengthening partnerships, and creating more opportunities for individuals experiencing homelessness to thrive.

Thank you to our staff, volunteers, partners, donors, and supporters for believing in our mission and helping make these achievements possible. Together, we are creating lasting change, one life at a time.

Here's to another year of hope, dignity, and transformation at WeHOPE at Berryessa. 🩵
