WeHOPE's Family Harvest Program Celebrates Milestone

For over 15 years, WeHOPE has partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank of Silicon Valley to address food insecurity in San Mateo County. What began as Kids N.O.W (Nutrition on the Weekend), providing healthy snacks to school-aged children on Thursdays, has evolved into the comprehensive Family Harvest program that operates every Tuesday, offering essential nutritious items including dairy, protein and produce.

"Our volunteers are the heartbeat of this program," said Nakia Davis, Family Harvest Program Manager. "Their commitment goes beyond distributing food—they create a community of care where families feel welcomed and respected."

Nakia Davis is Family Harvest Program Manager and Executive Assistant to Pastor Paul Bains.

These dedicated volunteers help provide essential groceries to low-income families throughout San Mateo County. Their service ensures food security remains accessible to vulnerable populations.

Recent program restructuring has enhanced service delivery while volunteers have adapted seamlessly to operational changes. Their flexibility has increased the program's capacity and efficiency.

"We're deeply grateful for our volunteers' decade-long dedication," Davis added. "They've helped transform Family Harvest from a simple food distribution into a cornerstone community resource. They bring more than just their time—they bring warm smiles and loving hearts that uplift every family we serve."
