WeHOPE's New San Jose Safe Parking Program Reaches Full Capacity

COMPANY UPDATE

Resident, Carol Rogers, speaks at the Berryessa Opening on Thursday, April 10th.

"I've been on the street for 17 years," shares Carol Rogers, a resident at the Berryessa Safe Parking Program. "From New York all the way to California... when I first heard about safe parking, I jumped at the chance to come here."

At the Berryessa Safe Parking opening ceremony, Carol expressed her hope "Now that I have encouragement to reach that goal, the next time you see me, I'm going to be in my very own apartment."

That’s hope.

WeHOPE is honored to serve our newest Supportive Parking Program located on Berryessa Street in San Jose. This initiative extends our commitment to providing innovative solutions for individuals experiencing vehicular homelessness.

The program features 86 RV spots serving families and individuals and creates a welcoming, supportive environment where individuals living in their vehicles can stabilize their lives and work toward permanent housing solutions while creating community. WeHOPE at Berryessa will offer comprehensive services including:

  • 24/7 security services

  • Professional case management

  • Access to sanitation services

  • Food assistance

  • Community-building activities and classes

The collaboration between WeHOPE and the City of San Jose exemplifies how public-private partnerships can create meaningful impact in addressing homelessness. When government entities, nonprofit organizations, and community activists work together, we multiply our effectiveness and reach.

We extend our gratitude to the City of San Jose, Mayor Matt Mahan, Councilmember David Cohen, and the many supporters who are helping us make meaningful progress in addressing homelessness in our community.
